Lifecycle events

Jewish life isn't just about Shabbat and Holiday services, here at Chabad of Sea-Gate we are available to support the entire Jewish lifecycle for you and your family. Services we offer include:

Brit - Circumcision

G‑d commanded the Jewish people (Leviticus 12:2), “On the eighth day, the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.” For thousands of years, even under persecution, Jews have circumcised their sons using the services of a  mohel, ritual circumciser, who knows all the intricacies of performing the circumcision. By having your son ritually circumcised, you join their ranks in connecting your child with G‑d in an unbreakable covenant.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

According to Jewish law, a boy at the age of thirteen or a girl at the age of twelve, is no longer considered a minor and is responsible to fulfill all the Torah’s commandments. The term “bar mitzvah” literally means “son of the mitzvah,” or one who is obligated in mitzvah observance.

The obligation is automatic, whether or not a celebration or special ceremony is held. But since becoming a bar/bat mitzvah is such an important milestone and joyous occasion, we make a point of celebrating together with family and friends.

Chupa - Marriage

Chabad of Seagate arranges Chupa’s - Jewish Weddings for couples in full accordance with the Torah and Jewish tradition. Our purpose is to offer to Jewish couples the joy and spirituality of a religious wedding ceremony.  Some of the couples are middle-aged, some are elderly and some are very young.  Virtually none of them ever had the opportunity to do things the Jewish way.

Funeral

Our tradition encompasses all of life, day and night, light and dark. Even in the most difficult of situations—the imminent and then actual loss of a loved one—our Torah is there to strengthen us, to guide us, and to help us grow and see beyond our loss.
